What Causes Acne?

Natural Culprits Of Acne

If there is one thing which every person wants to get rid of and never wished it existed in this universe, it is surely acne. Well, alright, some dermatologists are probably pious yet selfish enough to be praying for their patients' breakouts, yet I bet this loathsome thing never received affection from anyone.

Going back to the basics

Perhaps it won't come as a surprise to you if you found out that a myriad of people resort to unthinkable ways just to delete acne from their system. These ways range from derma treatments, to synthetic medicine and nutritional supplements. Nonetheless, with such a big a dilemma as acne, you can't help but go back to the basics, to the very root of it all.

Although quite a number of doctors deny the idea that food plays a huge role in your breakouts, it won't hurt to consider shunning away from food which may cause them. A little adjustment in your diet and gradual avoidance of some types of food may actually do the evasive trick of managing, if not utterly eliminating these skin blemishes.

Food as foes

Before delving into the acne-causing potentials of some food, it is important to clarify first a few of the factors contributing to this skin challenge. You may already be aware of the fact that too much of some nutrients in food lead to the existence of acne. Besides this, the ineffectiveness of the digestive system forces impurities to exit through the skin, and not through your excretory system. More on, excessive heat in your body and in your blood is another silent cause of acne.

So what then are these culprits which seem to backstab you after giving your taste buds a nice treat? Here they are:

  • Carbo the criminal. You are better off managing your ingestion of food rich in carbohydrates. This is for the reason that too much carbohydrates lead to inflammation and tissue damage. Remember also to avoid refined and cooked carbohydrates such as bread, rice, chips, and flour.

  • The hypocritical vitamin. Although vitamin B12's effects on your body are a far cry from cigarettes, don't be fooled for overdose of this vitamin may win you some healthy zits. Foods with this double-faced vitamin are fish, meat, egg, milk and milk products.

  • A toast to your pimples. A blissful celebration may give you reasons to drink up to your heart's delight yet be cautious for a couple shots of liquor here and a cup of coffee there may plaster some pimples on your face. Milk, a seemingly harmless drink, actually contains bioactive molecules and hormones which contribute to the occurrence of acne.
While you may find it hard to get rid of alcohol intake, you may consider including it in your list of drinks which you must seldom take in. Joining this list are coffee and tea which, like alcohol, lead to excessive heat in the body.

  • Turning the heat up. Speaking of excessive heat in the food, other food which lead to this phenomenon are prawns, garlic, lobster, monosodium glutamate and spicy foods. Food with other additives like preservatives, artificial sweeteners and food colorings also heat your blood, thus effecting acne.
Besides the foods themselves, the method of cooking may or may not contribute to the added heat in your blood. This means that some foods which are cool in nature may be otherwise depending on the way they are cooked. Roasting, baking, barbecuing, smoking, currying and deep-frying create hotter energies in every kind of food, thus it is best to regulate the frequency of using such methods. You may also consider turning instead to such alternative methods as blanching, braising, quick stir-frying, quick boiling, poaching, stewing, and steaming.

  • A sweet drawback. Foods high in sugar such as cookies, chocolates, biscuits and sweets must also be avoided.

  • The trouble with iodine. You may switch to sea salt or rock salt after reading this article. Researches show that iodine encourages breakouts, thus it is best to avoid other food rich in it like cheese, kelp, cheese, onion, commercial bread, crab, clams, and other shellfish.

  • The others. Other more foods worth avoiding are meat and dairy products. Yeast products such as beer, soy sauce, mushrooms and bread are also included in the list. Foods rich in saturated and partially hydrogenated fats are also equal culprits. The first group includes cheese, red meat and whole milk members of the second group are packaged snack foods, cookies, crackers and chips.
